Technical Theatre & Tour Production

With this dutch theatre group I’ve been on tour in Holland and some cities in Europe. The show is a mix of Variety theatre, comic, music and a whole lot of other disciplines. I have been their stage manager and I’m still in charge of the technical preparation for the shows outside Holland for which I’m the stage manager as well.

With their show they bring their own ground support truss system since they do a lot of flying stunts. Because opf the speed of the show and the amount of quick changes during the show it’s a big challange to design their show in all the different kind of venues where we perform. We have a fixed minimum amount of space we need both on stage and backstage to be able to do the show.

Normally we perform in theatre situations only. This theatre’s need to have a flybar system above the whole stage to be able to do our show. It was up to me in 2009 to find a solution to perform in non theatre situations as well. After a lot of talking and suggestions for solutions with the crew we found a way to do the show in non flybar system situations as well.
